Hey there I’ve checked it and there is no settings for the parent item for the Grid Gallery you’ve followed steps is true and you can use sub element settings for the each item. We’ll be improve that settings section with next update. But at this time no settings needed for it.

BTW: you can activate/ deactivate each module from the admin panel “Elegant Mega Addons” menu on the right side.
